MEASUREMENT OF WIND LOAD AND PREDICTION OF DYNAMIC RESPONSE OF BUILDINGS IN WIND TUNNEL

  • The wind load is a major load on buildings from side directions. Wind load measurement and wind response prediction are of considerable necessity to building engineering. The measurement of the static and dynamic wind load and the prediction of the dynamic wind response can be achieved by using the high frequency balance, which is a promising new technique. As a technical study, a test was conducted by using a five-component self-made high frequency balance in a 1.4m×1.4m wind tunnel, and the generalized force spectrums of two models in different flow-state atmosphere boundary layers were drawn in the test. The dynamic wind responses of two high-rise buildings are calculated, and the result is compared with the statistical standards for wind engineering set by the Engineering Sciences Data Unit(ESDU). The reliability of the test results is also analyzed.
