AGREEMENT BETWEEN WIND TUNNEL TEST AND ANALYTICAL METHOD FOR THE WIND-INDUCED RESPONSE OF LONG SPAN CABLE-STAYED BRIDGES

  • Both the wind tunnel test and the analytical method can be adopted for the wind-induced response of long span cable-stayed bridges. In order to investigate the agreement between the two means, Yibin Yangze River Bridge in maximum single cantilever condition is regarded as a numerical example to both test and analysis. In analytical method, the static-wind response is calculated by finite element method. The buffeting response is analyzed by the stochastic vibration method in frequency domain. In wind tunnel test, the static and buffeting response of the aero-elastic model is measured and further transformed for full-scale bridge. The results by the two methods are compared to explore their reliability. The possible reasons are discussed for the difference between of the results. It is finally showed that the results obtained by the two means agree well with each other for the predominant response.
