CONTROL STANDARD FOR RUT DEPTH BASED ON SIMULATION OF VEHICLE-PAVEMENT SYSTEM DYNAMICS

  • Rut depth is now widely employed as the evaluation index of pavement rut in road maintenance and management specifications at home and abroad. In order to evaluate the control standard of rut depth from the perspective of riding qualities, and to take the need of road users into account, the pape firstly built two models: pavement surface input exciting model and riding qualities evaluation model. Secondly, the vehicle-pavement system dynamics was simulated through MATLAB/Simulink. By means of self-defined MATLAB language, the output responses of the system were solved. Finally, a control standard for rut depth to ensure better riding qualities was suggested based on ISO2631 Guide for the evaluation of human exposure to whole body vibration. This study helps to further perfect the evaluation of pavement rut and provides the responsible agencies with supporting information in the decision making process for maintenance and management planning.
