Shaking table test study on L-shaped shear walls with single layer of web reinforcement

  • In order to investigate the influence of different reinforcement arrangements on the aseismic capacity of L-shaped shear walls with a single layer of web reinforcements along the non-engineering-axis direction, two shaking table tests of L-shaped shear wall models with a single layer of web reinforcements were carried out. One is the shear wall with a single layer of web reinforcements and another is the shear wall with both a single layer of web reinforcements and inclined steel bars. The total reinforecment ratio of two shear wall models is the same. With inputted the seismic wave of El-Centro along the non-engineering-axis direction of L-shaped shear walls, the dynamic characteristics, the dynamic response and failure mode of each model under elastic, the crack and failure stages were measured and compared, also the aseismic capacity of L-shaped concrete shear walls along the non-engineering-axis direction was analyzed. The results show that L-shaped shear walls with inclined steel bars or without both have good aseismic performance along the non-engineering-axis direction and they can meet the aseismic design requirements of low or multi-layer building structures.
