EXPERIMENTAL STUDY AND SIMPLIFIED MODEL ANALYSIS OF THIN STEEL PLATE SHEAR WALL STRUCTURES

  • A thin steel plate shear wall structure is tested under cyclic loading to analyze the force transmission mechanism, deformation failure mode, hysteretic curve, ductility ability and energy dissipation. Using the post buckling mechanical properties of the thin steel plate shear wall, this paper proposes a new simple model named Three Strip Model (TSM) based on equivalent stiffness, equivalent maximum axial force of column and equivalent maximum moment of column, which has a simple structure and can consider the negative influence of side columns. It is found that TSM can be applied in civil projects design because of its good accuracy by the comparison with SM model, finite element model and the experimental results.
