TYPHOON-RELATED RELIABILITY ANALYSIS OF LOW-RISE RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS

  • The wind-induced damage mechanism of low-rise residential buildings in the southern-east coast of China is investigated. The major damage modes are roof decking and roof structural damage mode, exterior wall damage mode, exterior windows and doors damage mode et al.. By applying the Monte-Carlo simulating method, the typhoon-related reliability of typical residential buildings in Fujian province is analyzed. The numerical analysis results show that the reliability of the main structure of low-rise buildings is high while the roof decking, exterior wall, doors and windows have larger failure probabilities.
